FAQMaintenance & emergency

Maintenance & emergency

Updates, fast troubleshooting.

How does an update differ from a migration? +
A migration changes major version (1.6 to 8, for example) and often involves a change of theme and architecture. An update stays within the same major version or moves to the next one incrementally (8.1 to 8.2), with a much more limited and predictable impact.
What's the risk of not updating my store? +
Known security vulnerabilities that get actively exploited (outdated PrestaShop stores are a frequent target), modules that stop working with newer PHP versions, and eventually a host that refuses to keep supporting an obsolete PHP version, making the site inaccessible.
How do you avoid breaking my site during the update? +
Nothing is ever applied directly to production. Every update is first tested on a staging clone identical to your store, with module-by-module compatibility checks and regression testing on critical flows before any deployment.
What happens if a module is no longer maintained by its publisher? +
I identify these modules during the initial audit. Depending on the case: finding a maintained alternative, developing a targeted patch, or replacing it with an equivalent, more recent module — always discussed with you before taking action.
How much does a PrestaShop update cost? +
A simple minor update (core + compatible modules): €300 to €800. With a PHP migration or modules to replace: €800 to €2,000. This service is also included in monthly maintenance contracts starting at €149/month.
How often should a store be updated? +
Critical security patches should be applied within a few days. Minor module and core updates, ideally every 2-3 months. That's exactly what a monthly maintenance contract covers, so you never have to think about it.
How much does an emergency intervention cost? +
Diagnosis + intervention within 4 business hours: starting at €150. If the fix requires more than a quick repair, a quote is proposed immediately after the diagnosis, before any additional billing.
Do you work evenings or weekends? +
For truly critical cases (site down, active hack), message me on WhatsApp: I do my best to step in quickly even outside regular hours. It's not a guaranteed 24/7 service, but I respond fast.
Do I need to already be a BoostMyPresta client? +
No. This emergency service is open to anyone, client or not. Clients under a maintenance contract are naturally prioritized.
How do I avoid this happening again? +
The vast majority of emergencies come from a lack of maintenance (updates not done, no backup, no monitoring). A monthly maintenance contract starting at €149/month covers exactly that prevention.
How does the subscription work? +
Pick a plan, pay by card (Stripe). You get an immediate welcome email with my access details and first actions. First intervention within 24 business hours.
Can I cancel any time? +
Yes. You manage your subscription directly from your Stripe portal (link in the welcome email). No justification, no commitment.
What happens in case of an urgent issue? +
All plans include 24/7 uptime monitoring. In case of a detected (or reported) incident, I respond within the plan's SLA: 48h Essential, 12h Performance, 2h Premium.
Does this replace my hosting provider? +
No. Maintenance complements hosting. If you don't have suitable hosting, I can point you in the right direction (OVH, o2switch, Cloudways, AWS).
Which platforms do you support? +
PrestaShop (1.6, 1.7, 8, 9), Shopify, WooCommerce, WordPress, Magento, as well as custom sites (PHP, Node, Laravel, Symfony).
Do you work with companies outside your region? +
Yes, most of my clients are in Paris, Lyon, Bordeaux, Lille, Nantes or abroad. Remote work has been my daily routine for 10 years, with proven tools (Slack, Notion, Linear, Figma, daily video calls).
What's the difference between a minor and major intervention? +
A minor intervention takes under 1 hour: display fix, adding a content block, tweaking a module. A major intervention exceeds 1 hour: custom development, migration, partial redesign — it's quoted separately if the plan doesn't cover enough hours that month.
Can I change plans during my subscription? +
Yes, any time from your Stripe portal or by contacting me directly. The change (upgrade or downgrade) takes effect at the next billing cycle, prorated if needed.
How does the 24/7 uptime monitoring actually work? +
An external service pings your site every minute from multiple geographic zones. As soon as downtime is detected, I receive an immediate alert (SMS + email) and respond within your plan's SLA — often before you even notice.
