Cloudflare rend trois services distincts qu'on confond souvent : accélérer le site en servant les fichiers depuis un point proche du visiteur — c'est le rôle du CDN, un réseau de copies réparties dans le monde —, le protéger des attaques et du trafic automatisé, et gérer le DNS, l'annuaire qui relie votre nom de domaine au serveur. Does Cloudflare replace my o2switch/OVH hosting?
No, Cloudflare sits as an additional layer in front of your existing hosting. Your site continues to be hosted at o2switch, OVH or elsewhere; Cloudflare filters and speeds up traffic before it reaches your server.
How much does setting up Cloudflare cost?
Full configuration (domain switchover, firewall, page acceleration rules): €400 to €900 as a one-off service. Cloudflare's free plan is enough for most SME online stores; the Pro plan (~€20/month) adds advanced protections.
Can Cloudflare break my site during migration?
The risk is very low with a careful migration: I check one by one the settings that connect your domain name to your server before the switchover, and I test every critical journey (payment, forms) right afterward.
Can the firewall block real customers by mistake?
That's a risk when it's poorly tuned. I turn it on gradually: first in observation mode (it logs without blocking), then in real blocking mode. I watch for false alarms over the first few days and adjust. Properly tuned, it stops attacks without ever getting in a legitimate customer's way.
