When to audit

Six situations where not knowing gets expensive

Nobody wakes up wanting an audit. You wake up with slow pages, traffic slipping away, or a redesign quote you have no way to judge. If one of these lines sounds familiar, the audit costs less than carrying on guessing.

The site is slow, and nobody knows why

The host blames the theme, the agency blames the hosting, and nobody measures. The cause is almost always somewhere other than where it is being looked for.

Google traffic has been falling for months

A steady decline is not just "the market": it is a technical, editorial or competitive signal — and the three can be told apart in the data.

Visitors come, but do not buy

A funnel losing most of its carts has identifiable causes: mobile slowness, fees revealed too late, an over-long form, missing reassurance.

A redesign quote to judge

You are quoted a five-figure sum without anyone having opened the site. The audit draws the map: what has to be rebuilt, and what can be kept.

The site has passed from hand to hand

Three successive providers, no documentation, modules installed then forgotten: what actually runs is no longer known to anyone.

You want an outside opinion

Not necessarily to change provider — to find out whether what you are being told holds up. The report is yours, usable by anyone you choose.

Three options

Pay for the diagnosis, not the promise

Each option has a stated price, a stated deadline and a deliverable of the same shape: a ranked report, costed in time, followed by a call. Nothing commits you beyond the audit.

What each option actually opens up

The table does not say "yes" everywhere: three columns of identical ticks help nobody choose. It says what each option covers fully, what it touches on, and what it leaves out.

"Partial" means the item is looked at through the lens of that option and not dug into: the SEO audit measures Core Web Vitals because Google uses them for ranking, but does not go down into server configuration.

The deliverable

A report that leads to decisions

Not forty pages of tool screenshots. A document you read in an hour, where every line says what to do, why, and how long it takes.

01

A ranked table

Every item ranked by expected gain against effort, not by technical category.

02

Costed in time

How many hours to fix each item, so you can decide without asking for another quote.

03

What to leave alone

An honest audit also says what is fine. Paying for optimisations with no effect is the most common waste.

04

A report that belongs to you

No clause obliges you to entrust me with the work: the document is usable by any provider.

How it runs

Four steps, with no interruption to your site

01

Order

Online payment, no quote and no back-and-forth. You give the site address and what worries you.

5 min
02

Access and collection

Read-only access where it exists (Search Console, Analytics, admin). Nothing is changed on the live site.

1 to 3 days
03

Analysis

Full crawl, real measurements, code and database review depending on the option. Heavy tests run on a copy.

4 to 8 days
04

Report and walkthrough

We go through the report together, in priority order. You ask your questions with the site on screen: that is where an audit is most useful.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about audits

Which option should I choose if I do not know where the problem comes from?
The full audit, precisely because it presupposes nothing. The other two start from a diagnosis already made: "my traffic is falling" or "my site is slow". If you cannot choose between those two, that is the sign you need the full one.
Does the audit include fixing the problems found?
No, and that is deliberate: an audit that sells its own implementation is no longer quite neutral. The fixes can be entrusted to me as a fixed-price project or monthly maintenance, but nothing obliges you and the report remains usable by anyone.
Do you touch my site during the audit?
No. The access requested is read-only, and heavy tests run on a copy. A live store is not tested in production — that is the first thing an audit should respect.
What if the audit finds nothing serious?
It happens, and it is good news worth its price: you know the site is healthy, and you stop paying for optimisations that will change nothing. The report then says what to monitor rather than what to fix.
How long does the report stay valid?
Code and database findings stay true as long as nobody intervenes. Performance measurements and SEO state do move: past six months they need redoing — which is far quicker than a full audit.
Is it restricted to one particular platform?
No. The technical criteria — indexing, internal linking, Core Web Vitals, security — are universal; only the implementation recommendations change by platform.

Unsure which option?

Describe the symptom, I will say which one answers it

Two lines about what worries you are enough. If no audit is the right answer, I will say that too — it has happened, and it is what makes the recommendation worth something.
