How to optimize your PrestaShop store performance in 2026 — BoostMyPresta

A slow e-commerce site loses up to 40% of customers. Here's the complete methodology to turn a slow PrestaShop store into a performant machine.

A slow site loses revenue. According to Google, 53% of mobile visitors abandon a page that takes more than 3 seconds to load.

1. Initial audit

Run Google PageSpeed Insights, GTmetrix, WebPageTest. Identify Core Web Vitals (LCP, FID, CLS).

2. Cache & compression

Enable PrestaShop native cache. Configure Smarty caching. Enable Gzip/Brotli. Set up PHP OPcache.

3. Optimized images

Convert to WebP. Enable lazy loading. Serve via CDN. Keep size under 200KB max.

4. Database

Optimize MySQL tables regularly. Purge abandoned carts. Limit logs.

Expected result

On stores I migrate, I average a Lighthouse score going from 35 to 90+, with LCP dropping below 2 seconds.
